The Real Ranger
The Ranger class as written in the PHB is awful. It is open to 1 level class pimping, it can be quite restrictive to player conceptions, and it does not seem to be in the flavor of the old rules. Therefore, we will use these rules for anyone who would like to play a Ranger.Alignment:
Animal Empathy, Climb, Concentration, Craft, Handle Animal, Heal, Hide, Intuit Direction, Jump, Knowledge (nature), Listen, Move Siliently, Profession, Ride, Search, Spot, Swim, Use Rope, Wilderness Lore. See chapter 4 of the PHB for skill descriptions.
4 + Int Mod
Weapon and Armor Proficiency:
New Rangers are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, light armor, medium armor, and shields. However, normal armor check penalties do apply. The Ranger does not gain any psuedo or bonus feats for wearing light armor.
The New Ranger uses the same rules for spells as the old one. See page 45 in the PHB for their descrition.
The New Ranger gains bonus feats at 2nd level and for every 3 level beyond that (i.e. 2nd, 5th, 8th,...). The Ranger may use these bonus feats for those feats specifically designated for them and they must also meet the requirements for those feats.
Those feats are:
(From the PHB) Alertness, Ambidexterity, Blind Fight, Endurance, Improved Intitive, Mounted Combat, Mounted Archery, Trample, Ride by Attack, Spirited Charge, Point Blank Shot, Far Shot, Rapid Shot, Shot on the Run,(not Precise Shot), Run, Toughness, Track, Two-Weapon Fighting, Improved Two-Weapon Fighting, Weapon Finesse, Weapon Focus.
(From the New Feats Web Page) Quick Healer, Hardiness, Iron Hide, Metabolism, Resilience, Treetopper, Cat's Feet, Blindfight, Rapid Reload, Camoflage, Favored Enemy, Favored Enemy Strike, Favored Enemy Critical.
