Notes on Poison

The rules on poison in the 3rd edition are a bit incomplete, especially when it comes to creating poisons. Until they put out some official rules and we can evaluate them, we will use these. To create a poison you will use a Craft skill called Craft (poison). Each poison you try to make will have a DC based on how effective that poison is. The DC will be deterimined with the following equation:

10 + ( ( (average initial damage) + (average secondary damage) + (.5 * save DC)) * Type Factor) )

Type Factors

Injested = 1
Injected = 1.5
Contact = 2
Inhaled = 2

Lets say your character would like to craft a Injected poison that does 1d6 intial damage, 1d6 secondary damage, and has a save DC of 14. Using the formula the DC for creating the poison would be (10+(((3.5)+(3.5)+(.5*14))*1.5)), or 31. The cost to make the poison will be the DC * 10. The character will be able to attempt to make poison multiple times a week depending on thier skill in Craft (poison). For each 5 ranks they will be able to make one attempt. Good Luck!
